Boot Hill Cemetery
Idaho City is a well-preserved old west gold rush town with an interesting, though often violent past.  Vigilantism was common here, and the townspeople were quick to hang lawbreakers without benefit of a trial.  At the height of the gold boom, the town sported 41 saloons, so one can only imagine what went on in that town full of armed men and liquor. 

Nearby Boot Hill Cemetery is a fascinating relic of the past, where the ill-fated townspeople were laid to rest.  Of the 200 people buried in the cemetery, it is said that only 23 died of natural causes, attesting to the violent inclinations of the townspeople.  By day, you can visit the cemetery and read the headstones, many of which describe hangings, shootings, and untimely deaths. It is a photogenic cemetery, with lots of wood enclosures and interesting gravesite architecture.  Some graves have large trees growing inside the enclosures, attesting to the age of this cemetery.   By night, the place comes alive with orbs, streaks, and mists, making it a real find for anyone interested in experiencing ghostly phenomena.  Bring some good equipment when you come here, and you likely won't be disappointed!
